Hmmmmm.  We went a few weeks ago to a Met Talk about this Opera so we would have familiarity.  I loved the talk, more a history of the idea of making an opera about the old west than anything about making of the actual opera.  So I was prepared.  Pleas remember I am not an Opera Lover.  The music was lovely, the story ridiculous.  I made the mistake of opening my eyes and waiting for John Wayne.  I should have kept them closed and enjoyed the music.

Maybe because I am a movie lover, I expect a story.  I expect or desire lovely flowing prose because I read.  SO when I get bogged down in the words of the opera.. well, its not pretty.
