As I sit every day, 9 weeks in and counting, 1.5 million infected here in the US and 93,000 plus dead my role is too stay home. Stay put, see no one, go nowhere. And I try… Yesterday we went out to Miami Beach, took a walk on Ocean Drive, but only for a block. Even as deserted as it was, there were still other people around.
So home we went to try making corn chowder or corn soup, bacon? potatoes? onions or leeks? or chives? in the new Dutch oven, or should I use the new Electric Skillet? So many very important decisions to be made…
The upside of being stuck here is that I built a kitchen to cook in and I really am cooking. 2 meals most days, so probably closing in on 100 meals.
So it is corn Soup in Electric skillet! Leeks, no bacon, and let’s consider it a first try.

From the Guardian…Nine top scientists who advised Barack Obama in the White House are warning that the US has just three months to rebuild its national stockpile of emergency medical supplies or risk further drastic shortages of testing kits and protective gear should coronavirus strike again in the fall.
From The New York Times … WASHINGTON — President Trump has blamed many others for his administration’s flawed response to the coronavirus: China, governors, the Obama administration, the World Health Organization. In recent weeks, he has also faulted the information he received from an obscure analyst who delivers his intelligence briefings…..The president veers off on tangents and getting him back on topic is difficult, they said. He has a short attention span and rarely, if ever, reads intelligence reports, relying instead on conservative media and his friends for information.
