JESSICA LANG @ ABT

I do love an afternoon of ballet. Sandwiched in between Ballanchine SymphonicConcertante which was a half hour of twirling white tutus and Robbins Fancy Free was the premiere of Jessica Lang’s Garden Blue.

Last week I was to a works and process where JL and her artistic Partner for Garden Blue discussed their collaboration. I must say that seeing the staging today, the butterfly wings, the swirling backdrop and the couples in bright monochrome costumes wasn’t what I expected but was well received

We sat front row center at the conductors back and tho at first it was distracting the thrill of being dead center for some of the formations was well worth it

I sat for the JL piece next to the mother of the girl in purple, Mandy Xxxxxxxx c.
